  • Growth Sprint

    One day workshop event

Built on the principles of Jake Knapp's Design Sprint and Sean Ellis' Hacking Growth, our growth sprint workshops impart new tools to turbo charge growth and cultivate a culture of growth internally.

This technique is ideal for unlocking growth without significant investment, saving larger more complex or higher risk growth investments to be considered in Growth Strategy.

Staff are a tremendous source of ideas for growth and by using simple and easy to replicate techniques we spent a high energy day identifying small changes that can have big returns.

Over the course of the event we will:

    - Advise you to formulate a growth team for the Sprint

    - Define and demystify growth sprint components (and provide a fresh perspective on how it is achieved)

    - Teach and train your team on how to run growth sprints internally

    - Develop growth experiments around Acquisition, Engagement, Retention and Reactivation

    - Inspire and motivate

    - Provide further reading and resources

These sessions can be run with teams of two to 12 and run concurrently with up to 4 teams at once (48 people total). Larger groups can be accommodated with special planning.

  • MSB Priorities, Challenges and Recommendations

Two hour Executive and Board Briefing of the 2019 Midsize Business Study Outcomes

Research tells us that capable, effective leadership improves business performance and sustainability. This is particularly important in the context of mid size businesses, or MSBs, given their tremendous contribution to the UK’s economy and communities.

We also know that leaders and directors of MSBs face different issues than their peers from smaller enterprises.

In this ground breaking study, led by the E2A team in conjunction with Salford Business School we uncovered the issues and priorities most important to MSB leaders and curated a range of recommendations for Boards and leaders to consider and leverage.

    In this executive briefing we:

    - Explore MSBs’ relationship with, perspective on and approaches to Brexit, productivity, technology, finance, the workforce, growth, innovation, leadership capability and competency, and professional memberships.

    - Against these, the challenges, opportunities and priorities for MSBs are explored, drawing on both the results of this study and other robust (but limited and highly dispersed), recent related studies.

    - Share Implications and recommendations to improve MSB productivity and performance

    Strategy Development

    Two day workshop event

Strategy is both a process and an output and should be something you get better over time. We work with you to evolve and improve the process by which you plan and the quality of the strategy itself.

There are three vital things to remember about strategy:

    • Strategy is only as good as the information that steers decision makers
    • Strategy is only current on the day that it is written, and it should be refined regularly
    • Culture eats strategy for breakfast

In very simple terms, strategy can be set by reviewing different streams of information, data and evidence. This should give you and your business a spectrum of opportunity to pursue. The toughest part of developing strategy is then gaining the clarity and criteria to select what to do with the opportunities presented to you.

Good strategy will inform, align and use your Growth Ambition, Ideology, Operational Strategies and Structure.

Getting this right will make the best use of focus, resources and effort, while at the same time mobilise staff and stakeholders.

To help you develop your ideology we will:

    - Advise you to formulate a cross functional and cross hierarchy strategy team

    - Provide easy technology to gather 'evidence and inputs' (customer, staff, financial, business, competitor)

    - Define and demystify strategy components

    - Provide tangible examples of strategy and operational strategy and measures

    - Share the process to develop strategy and help you refine your own

Use an interactive, efficient and engaging workshop format to develop:

    - Ambition to set the scale and pace of growth and which aligns with your ideology

    - Structure consider and plan new organisational design to deliver growth

    - Operational Strategies (people, product, client, reputation, operational, partnerships) to realise your ambition

Project planning and training to implement the operational strategies

    - Provide further reading and resources

  • Attracting & Retaining Staff in a Skills and Talent Shortage

Two hour executive and board briefing

Management author and educator Peter Drucker coined the phrase, “Culture eats strategy for breakfast”. Perhaps this is the secret to MSBs’ success? MSBs value people and they’re serious about it – with employee retention, satisfaction and wellbeing topping overall business success measures for the majority of UK MSBs.

However, despite this advantage, MSBs face significant challenges around people irrespective of the sector they operate within. And while leaders are aware of the potential crisis they are less clear on how to address it.

In this executive briefing we will:

    - Share the scientific principles behind staff satisfaction (and its not gym memberships!)

    - Discuss how this translate into board and management practices

    - Present the 5 best processes and practices to improve your acquisition of great talent

    - Present 5 mature and advanced retention strategies you can use right away

    - Facilitate a session to develop an organisational agenda for better workforce management

    - Further reading and resources

  • Strategy

There's no point in having a vision for your business if you don't know how to get there

  • Innovation Workshops, Briefings & Resources

    Innovate & Improve

    Two day workshop event

MSBs are constantly balancing the risks of failing to innovate against the possible failure of innovation itself. This is alarming as it creates the potential for significant risk to business: MSBs must remember that doing nothing (while the market, customers, consumers and competitors move forward) is the same as going backwards.

It appears market forces are bringing increased levels of caution when it comes to innovation among MSB leaders – just when innovation is needed the most.

This two day event is designed to demystify innovation and improvement for the broader team, share simple processes and tools to do both, leave with a set of high value, practical initiatives that represent innovation and improvement.

It is also a highly engaging session for staff and links strongly with retention practices.

    In the event we will:

    - Advise you to formulate a cross functional and cross hierarchy innovation & improvement team

    - Provide easy technology to gather 'evidence and inputs' from staff and customers

    - Define and demystify innovation & improvement components

    - Provide tangible examples of innovation & improvement

    - Share the process to innovate & improve

    - Share practical methods and ideas to create a culture of innovation

    - Share a trouble shooting hit list to avoid innovation failures

    - Use an interactive, efficient and engaging workshop format to develop innovation and improvement initiatives to advance internally

    - Share and use criteria to prioritise and rationalise innovations and improvements

    - Provide simple project planning training to advance initiatives internally

    - Provide further reading and resources
